About Shukette

Shukette opened on Ninth Avenue in Chelsea in July 2021, the second restaurant from chef Ayesha Nurdjaja. Its older sibling, Shuka, had already made a name for itself in SoHo. Shukette took the same modern Middle Eastern sensibility and gave it a bigger room, an open kitchen, and a wood-fired grill at the center of the menu.
The format is built for sharing. Dips and mezze come first: labneh, hummus, and vegetable-forward small plates meant to be passed around the table with warm bread. From there, the menu moves toward the grill: whole fish, spatchcocked chicken, and skewered meats cooked over live fire. It's a style of eating that rewards ordering in a group rather than picking one entrée per person.
Reviews and diners consistently describe the room the same way: loud, bright, and bustling, with the open kitchen adding both noise and energy. That's by design: Shukette reads as a market stall scaled up into a full restaurant, tiled and busy rather than hushed. It's not the room to pick for a quiet conversation, but it suits a table that wants to share a lot of food and talk over it.
Shukette sits in the $$-$$$ range, and because the format leans on shared plates, the per-person total usually runs above what any single dish's price suggests. A table of four ordering generously across mezze, bread, and a grill main or two should expect to spend accordingly. The restaurant takes reservations through Resy, with tables releasing 14 days ahead, and seats larger groups by phone.
The menu page breaks down every section, from mezze to the grill, with current prices.
